Moving to Texas | Day Three | First Whataburger!!
I just bought the ranger. To me the big downside was the cost. It costs a lot and the things that go with it cost a lot. Being so small I think it will help later on though. I have a chainsaw so cutting a basic grocery store log in half is no issue. Even less of an issue if it lets me use double the wood and it does not use too much wood.
I agree about the cost being a downside. I hope that the amount you save on wood (and getting double the use from a bundle) will eventually make it feel like it was worth the money for the ranger.
Thanks. Just did Custer going East. About the only not mentioned is the 5 cent cup of coffee at Wall Drug.
We love Wall Drug!
I’ve never been to those badlands. You guys should open a Wall Drug #2 there.
Haha, no thank you! One Wall Drug is all the world can handle!
Haha, no thank you! One Wall Drug is all the world can handle!
Great job on showing the wildlife and definitely the wild horses 😁 Those Mountain View’s are beautiful
It’s so beautiful there!!
Looks you finally “Wandered” into your “lost” UA-cam password.
You are hilarious!! ;)
“Why not Minot?” Is that still a slogan in the Air Force? When I was a kid in the 70s it was. I remember when you guys said you were at Maxwell, I said to my wife, “oh no, there’s not much to do down there and it’s so humid it’s awful to be outside.” IMO the best outdoor area in Alabama is oak mountain, not far from us. But, the only time we can enjoy it is from late October through maybe April. Was the lack of hiking uploads because of the heat/humidity/generally mundane landscape? I bet you guys are glad to have escaped the humidity and especially glad to be back closer to the Black Hills! I know it’s a drive from Minot, but at least it’s not the 1500 miles or so that we have to make! Btw, it’s not a hike, but there is an interesting road in North Dakota called “the enchanted highway” that has interesting/quirky and gigantic art features every few miles. There’s a UA-camr named Justin Scarred who has an entertaining video about it if you’re interested. It’s about 3 hours from Minot. Anyway, good to see you guys back.
Oh, the Enchanted highway sounds awesome!! We will definitely go see it while we're here. And yes, Alabama was hot and humid, but I think it was also just the expectations that we had placed on us made it more stressful and less fun than it needed to be, so now that we have a better "plan" for doing it now and having fun!
I think for two or three people the Ranger is the perfect size. Like Grandpa's Console TV, over time, those larger ones will feel too large.
That makes perfect sense. We end up using the ranger more often when it's just us too.
so you put stickers in the book to places you have not been to? Can you buy a sticker the same time you visit or are the not always available when you need them so you just need to buy a pack every year?
For the stickers, yes. I add them in for everywhere, but I only get the passport stamps for places we have visited. The stickers are only available at certain locations, so I have the mindset that when I see them I buy them.
@@WanderLost thank you!
Quarry
Wind blows well over this tent. I’ve had mine for 8 years used it in snow storms and heavy rain backpacking in the Uinta Mountains and it’s been the best back packing tent I’ve ever owned.
Quarry
South Dakota is the longest state to drive across!!!!!!!!! I just did it in 12 hours!!!!!!!!!!! God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wander Lost, if I'd not seen this video, I'd have assumed it's ah-lee-BAH-tace, rather than AL-uh-bates. Thanks for setting me straight.
What was the clothes for
There are strips of cloth tied to trees because it is a Native American tradition and this place is sacred to some of the local people.
Okay so you put the stickers in each year (or as catch-up) and then get the stamp as you visit. Okay I get it now lol. I was collecting stickers and putting in as we visited. Lots of storage.
Best camp I have ever went to recommend
Is anyone having trouble with the spiral neck holding the pages? Are there any solutions?
Oh no! Mine hasn’t given me any problems so far. I’m sorry yours is messing up!
We plan on stopping here in a few weeks. Hopefully we can get onto one of the tours. Thanks for the info.
Awesome! I hope y’all get a tour!
We hiked up the hill to dinosaur park as kids. Watch out for rattlesnakes
My favorite Quarry is on Flint Ridge in Ohio.
I haven't been there. That sounds like a good place to try.
Interesting. I just saw a video by Mobile Instinct where he saw the actual bus she was on in the Henry Ford Museum. It’s been beautifully restored. In fact, I feel like it probably looks way better than when it left the factory. Also- “Do you see this big bird statue? Why? I don’t understand” - man, that cracked us up! Also that limb hitting your son in the face looked like that carnivorous plant, Cleopatra, from the Addams Family.
Haha... I didn't even notice the limb hitting him. I've got to go back and watch it. And that big bird statue was just put in the week before and we didn't know it. I talked to a Troy student and he said "I don't know why it's there either!" haha... it was just so funny and unexpected! :) I'll have to go to the Henry Ford Museum and check out the bus (and the rest of the museum) that sounds interesting!
You cracked me up with the repeated “NO MA’AM!” My wife is also from the south, and she and our daughter cracked me up on the wildlife loop in Custer whenever they were freaked out by a bison or burrow. My wife’s on one side of the car saying “no ma’am!” and my daughter is on the other side letting out a reprimanding “SIR! SIR! EXCUSE ME!” Those were well behaved animals, though. I’ve heard of safaris where they removed trim and break things on cars. It freaked me out to see a bison so tame and being fed. My “training” in South Dakota views those as walking death, lol.
I felt the same way. I couldn't believe how well-behaved the animals were. There were a few who were aggressive, but we just rolled up our windows and avoided them. :) And I didn't realize I said "No Ma'am" so much until I was editing this video! :)
Come on Amanda go pet the buffalo. They are so cute. 🤣
haha.. absolutely not! :)
@@WanderLost come on now they are cute. Next time get out and slap one on the butt. It's a hoot. Ron will laugh for years. My mom went ahead to head we'll head to knee's with a moose her first trip to Canada camping and fishing. It's a long funny story but the Cliffs Notes version she screamed so loud the moose dropped a number 2 on the ground. She now has a picture of a moose with a Hawaiian lay how ever it's spelled around its neck. I put it up in my loading room. It's always great to hear from you guys. Be safe and have fun. 😁
@@biggerbehindthetrigger2814 haha... that's so funny!! I will never be touching a large wild animal. I'm way too scared.
Soooo!!! Mississippi is where to see Jim Henson's masterpieces are!! Thank you, thank you sooo much! I needed to know Lol 🤗❤️👍🏾💯
haha... I hope you get to see if for yourself one day. I have to drive through MS to visit my parents, so I just drove by the museum again a few days ago. It's just such a cute little find in the middle of MS. :)
Hi guys, 🙋♂️ thanks for sharing! Looks like a fun adventure to take when in the area! Have a wonderful day 😊 Keep Spinning and Winning! Cheers...
It was a lot of fun!
@@WanderLost Always loved Jim Henson's creations. Looks like a fun place to visit! Cheers...
I’ve never been there, but I do remember the host of the TV show, Jack Palance, saying “Believe it… or NOT” in the most breathy, dramatic way, lol. A friend of mine back then and I used to do an extreme parody of him saying that and crack up.
haha... I remember it the same way! I loved that show when I was a kid!! :)
nice video❤👍
Thanks! We've enjoyed trying all the different foods.
It international yummy time. The kids will destroy the leftovers.
Haha… yep! Thanks for stopping by!
@@WanderLost it's always good to see you two. I didn't know Ron had ink. I guess I never seen it before. What is it of? My brother is a tattoo artist. He specializes in mastectomy and make-up tattoos for woman. The lady's that he has helped love what he does for them. Well im glad to see that you are doing well. You two have a wonderful blessed day.
@@biggerbehindthetrigger2814 HEY! I missed this. He has quite a few, but the one that you can easily see is gandolf from Lord of the Rings. And then he has more of JRR Tolkein inside his arm and on his torso. That's very cool that your brother is able to help like that.
I went there for a walk like 6 years ago with a buddy. For the first time. It gave me a creepy feeling, we heard Indiana's or someone signing in a different language but we never heard where it was coming from we try looking where the sound came from. Then someone drew a naked cartoon dude (like a pervert) n nail it to a tree. :/ After the walk that night I just felt like I was being watch when I showered. Went to bed, lived again at that time, closed my door to my room n I heard someone running back n forth my hallway n yelling in a crying way. I just prayed so hard n it went away. I knew what's was up at that min. Just put my prayer to work n no more going back to that place but now that I'm more faith strong 💪 I'm curious to visit again.
Wow. We had no issues after visiting. I hope you have a better experience next time you go.
We love the museum, we went to the one in Las Vegas. It's so much fun. Lou & Angie
We try to find wax museums everywhere we go. We love them. :) Except the scary part! ;)
Saw the original in London years ago.
That’s awesome!!
Amanda that was classic. Get out of my way. Haaa haaaa. Do candles freak you out.🤣 Thank you for the great video. Too funny. I hope you are all doing well. Happy wandering.
Haha… we had a lot of fun. Candles aren’t scary, but whatever is hiding in the dark behind the candles is usually scary! 😜😜😁😁
@@WanderLost your so nutty.its the key to a happy life. Just laugh you can't be mad when you are laughing.
@@biggerbehindthetrigger2814 absolutely true!! :)
That view of San Antonio was beautiful. I bet having dinner up there would be fun. Is everything really bigger in Texas? 😁 I loved the movie Big
I loved Big too, and our son hasn't even seen the movie. He just saw the Zoltar and thought it looked cool! :) I guess we need to have movie night and watch it.
That's so cool! What type of food in the restaurant, Lou & Angie
I would call it "fancy food". Here is al ink to the menu www.chart-house.com/location/chart-house-san-antonio-tx/#menus/
@@WanderLost I think there was a Chart House restaurant in South Florida. It was def "Fancy Feast" fare. Lou🤓
@@EatSleepRVRepeat haha... I love that definition! :) "Fancy Feast"! :)
Surprisingly those animals looked fairly active. I have been to zoos and all the animals do is sleep. Great video very informative thanks 😎
We thought so too. It is a really good zoo. Thanks for stopping by!
I just got back from MMSR and we camped at Strauss
That's awesome!!
We love Zoos & aquariums. We really like the smaller Zoos because it feel more intimate. Lou & Angie
That makes sense. I have just always loved zoos. It doesn't seem to matter what kind or where! :) Except this one was too hot! :)
Well hi there you guys. Everyone loves a trip to the zoo. Well unless it is as hot as the sun. You two are looking good. The Army is treating you both well. Here's my zoo story. I once took my two German shepherds to the park that is outside the Denver Zoo. It was the mother and son doggies. Well momma went 8nto the water and the puppy well he was a year old . Well he took off running and went to the pond that has the water birds in it and tried to kill a few birds. Well the birds turned on him and attacked him. He didn't get hurt he just learned a lesson not to mess with birds. Me I got a $100 ticket for not controlling my dog. When I look back on it, it was funny. At the time I was so stressed out and I lost $100.
Oh no! I'm glad you can look back and laugh at it now! That sucks that you had to pay a fine, and I'm glad your dog learned his lesson! :) Thanks for stopping by. I hope things are going well for you.
I love how when you say they don’t really have a standout kind of thing it sounds like you are keeping your voice down so that none of the animals or staff can hear you - and then the look on that snake’s face, like “do I mean nothing to you!?” Lol! A story from the zoo near where I live involves the reverse of the animals trying to get to the people: years ago, this kid who was trying to start his own “jackass” type show jumped into the rhino enclosure and started running around. Somehow he didn’t get killed. Interesting side note - he’s in prison now for murder, so the zoo animals are safe. Btw, I think I remember right that you said you are moving to the Montgomery area? I went to the zoo there an incredibly long time ago, and at that time, it was very nice. Hopefully it still is.
Oh wow. What a story! And yes, we just moved to Montgomery and we are planning a trip to the zoo here, but we are waiting for cooler temps so we aren't melting at the zoo! :) Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
We went to the Brownsville zoo last February, very good.
We are planning a trip to the Montgomery zoo, but not until it gets much cooler outside! :) Going in February seems like a good plan!
Nice zoo
Yes, thanks! We liked it too!
Huckleberry Pie with Blackberry Ice Cream on it is THE BEST!
Ron agrees!! It's one of his favorites!!
Loved seeing the wildlife. That ostrich was wild and big!! Cool video you two 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching! We have now moved to Alabama, and we found another drive-thru park near us here, so we are going this weekend and I'm coming prepared with more cameras for better reactions! :)
When I was a kid we were on the wildlife loop in Custer State Park. A burro stuck it’s head in the car and sneezed all over my sister. She still ain’t right.
Haha. We have a bunch of videos around Custer because we lived near Rapid City for 3 years! We loved it there!! And those burros are definitely not afraid of getting in personal spaces! 😜😜
What a great video, thank so much for posting. Best wishes from Oakland, California.
